Is Mr. E Moving???

Nope! ha ha  I am always looking out for the best way to store art work in my room.  It isn't easy when you see nearly 600 students a week(I know some of you see more...and hats off to ya!!!).  I got rid of my several old selves when they installed my built ins.  However, I did not like the idea of the art work laying out all messy looking.  I'm a bit OCD that way.  SOOOOOOOO...I wanted to box their work up to keep it orderly.  Plastic was too expensive for the 27 boxes I'd need.  So I purchased these boxes from Staples.  Still more than I wanted to pay, but not horrible.  They were 10 boxes & lids for $16.  All the same size..all the same color...WONDERFUL!  I have them arranged by grade level not days of the week...because my schedule is extremely screwed up.  More on that later!! ha ha

  1. Very clever, Mr. Ted!! Are you guys back yet? We start with kiddos a week from today. The district gives us a whole day and a half to get our rooms ready-Whoopee....I have been working for two days so far and will put in another day tomorrow.....Boy does my back ache:)

  3. Mr. E, I love this idea of superb organization, however some of projects would not fit....like sculptures and 12x18 size projects.... what do you do with those projects? Or do you not make large formatted projects? Thanks!!

  4. Mr. E,
I love your idea of superb organization! I am also looking for a way to easily store my students artwork. Where do you place 12x18 projects and sculptures? That is where I run into problems with storage and organization :o( Any thoughts or suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks! Hope you have a great start to your school year!

  5. Brianne...great questions. The boxes are slightly smaller than 12 by 18...they could fit..but may curl a bit on the edges. However, I only see my classes once a week...and some only once every other week. I will be doing very few things that are 12x18 just for time sake. I can't afford for large projects to eat up all my time. In way of 3-D work...I think there is enough room for most sculptural projects. For sure enough room for clay projects...and many of the other ones I do. It gives me a lot more space than my old system..that is for sure!!! Plus...I send home their work each grade card period(so at the end of each 9 weeks). With seeing some classes only 4 times a grade card...I won't fill up their box.
