Op Art/Line Design

OLDY BUT A GOODY
If you want another op art style project with shading....try this one out.  I did switch to using pencil this year instead of sharpie to draw it because I had so many students with anxiety.  Was not worth stressing them out!  All you need is pencil, paper, colored pencils, and patience!

Op Art Fun!

Op Art is so much fun to study with your students (I'd say 2nd on up!). There are so many interesting works to look through, and so much inspiration to be had.  Think about things you are trying to cover (standards/skills/elements/principles), and focus your lesson in that direction.  It really is so versatile.
If you need to bounce ideas off of someone, leave me a comment here or find me on my other social media.  I'd be happy to help.

Op Art Fun (w/ Video)!

My 3rd & 4th grade students love creating op art!!  This is a great entry level op art project where students can experience a ton of success! It is a great lesson for those teaching online!

OP ART"ISH" ACTIVITIES

Here is part of the mini-unit my 4th graders work on in Op-Art.  They really loved learning about & look at examples of Op-Art.  I have received several "at home" works from students where they attempted at home some of the ideas we discussed in class (I LOVE THAT!!!).  We may revisit the topic at the end of the school year when attention is waning.

Op Art: 4th Grade

Ms. Sanford, my SUPER student teacher, did an amazing job on this Op Art project! It is a great project for introducing point perspective, shading, reflection...and other art concepts.  If you haven't done this with your student yet...GO FOR IT!

Op Art: 4th Grade

This was a very simple way to do Op Art.  I'd like to pursue it more,
but it was a great start!
The students loved it, and to my surprise...really had the patience
 to complete such a project!!!

Oil Pastel Op Weavings: 2nd Grade

We've been working on our weaving skills with 2nd grade, and I didn't want to leave it quiet yet.  I decided to have my students create "op" weavings using oil pastels.  Some have turned out AMAZING.  Others...not so much.  Their is abstraction of sorts taking weaving from the tactile to the purely visual...and I think this is where I am losing some of the kiddos.  However....they are loving using oil pastels...so we'll press on with this experimental project.
