Mayor's Art Show 2022

We did not have the large gathering/opening night for the Mayor's Art Show at the Frist Museum (Covid Precautions). However, it was up...and students were given passes for their family to go view their work & see the other shows going on at the museum.  Super proud of my students and excited to get their work up at the Frist after two years hiatus because of the pandemic. Most of these projects were done after returning from Christmas Break.  I did a huge unit on Abstract Art with all the grade levels. (I'll post pictures from my all school art show soon & you'll see the others done in this unit!)

Metro Nashville Online Student Art Show

Metro Nashville Public Schools usually has their annual Mayor's Art Show at the Frist Museum Every Spring.  Because of being out due to COVID-19, the did not happen event did not happen this year.  Our coordinator for visual art wanted to have "something".  She put out the call for student art work...either created during the school year or through online learning.  I brought home my entire K-4th art show to prepare before finding out that we'd not be returning.  I thought I'd share the images I submitted for the digital show.  If we are given a link to all the submissions I'll share it on here.  Our show was dinosaur themed (I'm so sad it won't be happening...art show is my craziest time of the year, but also my favorite!!).

Mayor's Art Show 2016

(AAHHH!?!?! I forgot to edit & post this... I started it the 28th..but totally forgot about it!)

April 28th was our annual Mayor's Art Show here in Nashville(and my birthday)!  Our new mayor did amazing job in her opening remarks, and was extremely warm & personable when walking around, talking to students, and getting her picture taken with them!  This year I had five of my ten students attend, and one of the teachers(I've never had that before!!!).  I wish all my students could attend, but my school is on the far end of the county....and there are a host of other reasons some can not attend.  I was thrilled though with my five kiddos that came...and I think they all felt extremely proud to be showing their work in a real museum!

(Any pictures of students' faces are by parent permission.
Always ask before posting images of kids faces!!!!)

Here is TGE hanging in the halls of The Frist Center for the Visual Arts!!

Brothers! Eli(who is a triplet) is in 1st & Ryker is in 4th...a first for me to select siblings! I didn't even realize it till after I had selected their work(only their first names are on their work in my school art show...and I have a lot of Eli's!!).
Mary got to speak with Nashville's new mayor...well..she kind of just smiled & nodded a lot! I guess meeting the mayor can be a little overwhelming for a 1st grader!!! ha ha  The mayor was AWESOME! Very warm..very friendly!!
A view from & on the stage!! They called all the crazy art teachers up first...than the kids who had work in the show!  It was packed!!

Me and one of my besties...Ms. Malone (formally of www.msmalonesartroom.blogspot come..she has kind of abandoned blogging).  She is the little sister I never wanted, but couldn't imagine life without!

Mayor's Art Show Selections...

The Mayor's Art Show is a big annual visual arts event at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts!  They break Metro Nashville Public Schools into two sessions based on clusters(we area  huge district...and it would be impossible to fit everyone in..art wise...parking...really in every way!!).  It is such a great event.  We are allowed to select 2 works of art per grade level(that is kind of hard!!).  In the halls of the museum they hang high school, middle school, and elementary side by side...and you are able to see amazing artists at every level  under their amazing art teachers  direction.  On the night of the official opening...the mayor of Nashville comes to speak to the students, parents, and teachers attending the event.  Then everyone is dismissed to the halls to mix, mingle, and look at all the amazing art.  The mayor will walk the halls...speaking to the students & getting her picture taken with them.  It is a great memory maker for the kiddos!!!  I will take pictures that night too...but for now...here is the work I've selected!

Mayor's Art Show Selections

The Mayor's Art Show is an annual event where we select two pieces of art per grade level to represent our school at The Frist Center in downtown Nashville.  It is so fun to go and see all the different work being created across our city.  Here are my offerings for the Mayor's Art Show this year.  Sorry the picture quality is kind of poor....was snapping in a hurry when I dropped them off.  The greenish thing on the left side of a couple of them is the kickstand for my iPad case!?!? Oh my?? PHOTO 101 anyone???? ha ha
