Crayola at Wendy's!

So yesterday I took my 3 kids to Wendy's to spend some quality time enjoying a Frosty.  THAT WAS MY ONLY REASON FOR GOING TO WENDY'S.....REALLY!!! (wink wink)

I was so impressed!  NOW THIS IS A KID'S MEAL TOY!!!  It comes with 3 colors related to the container (here you see red violet, blue violet, and purple), and it comes with an activity sheet that goes along with that theme!  HOW FUN!  I was really hoping yellow would contain dandelion, but it did not (yellow, yellow green, yellow orange).  I feel like they missed an opportunity there! ha ha

Summer School?

We homeschooled our kids this past year. (reason: covid & the way their school district handled things...we live in a different district than I work) I felt like I did not do a great job providing art opportunities for my kids during this time (I was overwhelmed teaching virtual & then teaching in person & virtual). I wanted to cover some standards & skills over the summer. I told them they had to do 1 for me then they could do whatever they wanted. Lucky for me...my kids LOVE creating!!!

HA HA! Quietest it has been all summer! HA HA!

Moriah Elizabeth Themed Birthday Party

My oldest daughter LOVES Moriah Elizabeth's YouTube videos & wanted a birthday party inspired by her.  If you do not know who that is....here is a link to her YouTube channel.   https://www.youtube.com/user/GeniunelyMoriah  She does makes over squeeshies a good bit & paints on a lot of stuff!! She is fun & "clean" (I'm not worried about my pre-teen watching her videos because of language or questionable content!).  I pulled together the supplies for sueeshie make overs & painting on canvas shoes!   My wife also made royal icing cookie canvases & paint palettes!  I think Margaret and her friends had a pretty good time!!

I purchased most of my supplies at Dollar Tree & Dollar General.  I did get a couple things at Wal-Mart (larger fabric paint bottles & skewers).  There were only 4 girls at the party...so we probably did this for under $50.

Art Dad: Paper Marbling Edition

I'm 100% online till after Fall Break, and have been working in my classroom.

However, sometimes the job isn't done when I get home!  Sometimes...ART DAD is called to duty. ha ha  We are home schooling our kids & a kid we claim (my wife's best friend's kiddo...who just happens to be our oldest daughter's BFF).  They are working on a solar system unit, and my wife asked if I could do paper marbling with them when I got home on Wed.  It is interesting working with a 6, 9, 10, and 11 year old doing the same project. They all enjoy art and are up for anything!!

Somehow I'm the trained professional...yet my hands look like this?!?! ha

My son is such a goofball....apple doesn't fall far my friends!!!

BFF's having a blast!

I thought they did really well!  We used shaving cream & liquid watercolor.  I purchased the pans, wide combs, and shaving cream at Dollar Tree (where else?!?!?).
Make sure you have a large box/butcher paper/plastic table cloth so you can have a place to scrape off the shaving cream that is left on the paper.  I cut pieces of cardboard for scrapers.
