Making a Portrait Using Kleki

Have you all tried kleki.com
It is so much fun, so easy to use, and free!  A majority of our students use the same type of computer provided by the district.....but some do not.  I wanted to make sure we were all using the same thing so I could give them instructions that worked for EVERYONE! I'm using it with 2nd - 4th grade, and they LOVE IT!!  Here is my asynchronous video for portraits.
Give it a try...and let me know what you think!

4th Grade Dino Narrative Stop Motion: Ice Cream

This Stop Motion App video was created by one of yesterday's groups! They were extremely successful in telling a story. I'm so super proud of my amazing young artists!!!

Check out the other stop motion videos my students have created on my new student focused YouTube channel: Art With Mr.E  (My other one is a mix of student and teacher content).

Stop Motion: 4th Grade

As part of a grant our district was awarded for Art & Music...we received 3 iPads for our art room.  Technology has been hard to implement well in my classroom before because I only had a Fire to use.  I'm excited to try more projects that incorporate technology, and have a Tech Station set up in my classroom for student to utilize. We required as a part of this grant to have the students create using the Stop Motion app.  THEY LOVE IT!! I'm excited to try it for other projects in the future.  Go to my new student project YouTube channel to see other examples!!

If everyone gave a dollar....

Hey readers/friends/art teachers/fellow bloggers!  You my have seen my recent post about starting a campaign on EdBacker for an iPad for the art room!  So far it is going slow...very very slow.  So I thought I'd share this thought.......if everyone on my followers list gave a dollar...I'd be able to get 2 iPads for my classroom!!! :)  If you haven't looked at my link...take a moment & consider giving!! THANK YOU!

I LOVE MY LADIBUG!

I completely rearranged my room with the arrival of my Ladibug.  My reading area was in this corner, but my drop for my LCD projector...the major outlet in my room...and the internet connections(because our wi-fi is "iffy" at times).  I wanted to make this technology as user friendly & integrated into my teaching as possible.  So my "need" for order & sameness had to take a backseat as I totally rearranged my room.

Here is an example of what it can do!(note the awesomeness of the turtle! ha ha)

If you have any questions about this...let me know.  I am still learning as I work with it...so I might have to get back to you on some questions.

Here is the link to the Ladibug site if you want to learn more!

Google Presentation Instead of Power Point

My dear friend Tisch Nye taught me something new today. She is a technology coach for our district, but use to be an art teacher. In fact, she was the art teacher that I took over for 10 yrs ago at Tulip Grove Elementary. Anyway, she was at Tulip Grove to do internet safety with our second graders. She stopped by to discuss the workshop we're co-leading Thursday. I wanted to do a make & take for art teachers that was technology focused. My thought was to create a library of art focused Power Points that we could have at our disposal. Have 20+ art teachers working all day...we could have a ton of Power Points! However, Tisch suggested using Google Presentations instead. I had not heard of it before, but she gave me a quick lesson & I was ready to go! Here is my first creation. I took the pictures I used from the coil pot post the other day. What do you think?? Have you used Google Presentations before? I think I like it, just takes some getting use to.

***Ok...I know that the words are super close to the frame & it kind of cuts them off. This was my first try. I would move the words & pictures up a bit next go-round. Also, why is it better than power point??? From what I can tell so far...you can access it from any internet site by pulling up your google account. You can share it in doc & have others work on it . Great for group presentations. No need to e-mail huge files or flash drives! Easy to use!! That is what I've seen so far!***
