IN THE BEGINNING: 2013-2014 School Year

So last year I used a cool color theme...and and my heat went out in winter.  I'm praying the fact that I'm using warm colors this year doesn't mean my air is going to go out!?!??!!? ha ha

I used images from a discontinued book series to cover to top portion of wall of bulletin boards. I'm going to place my classroom rules there on top of the images.  Stay tuned for the final "look".

I've been unable to find solid black bulletin board border with straight edges.  I just don't like pre-made scalloped edged border.  So...I bought 4 yards of black fabric and tore it into strips.
We'll see how it works?!?!

If you've followed Art With Mr. E for awhile...you've seen my turtle displays for the start of the school year. The last week of school I have some of my students make pattern pages, others turn them into turtles, and older kids "clean" them up so they look great!!!

The kids 1st day is Aug 1st!!!!!!
I have got a lot to do over the next week!!!!!!!!!!

Art Room Bulletin Boards & Displays 2011: PART 1

These are the displays outside my room. The "ART" display is made from fun foam(very bright & fade resistant).  I have my students create the art I have hanging on my slider bars the last week of school(knowing what theme I'm going to be using for the next school year).  This past spring I had them create monochromatic turtles using markers, crayons, and colored pencils.  They were instructed to create a design in the shell that would reflect something about them(3 &4) or to create an interesting pattern in the shell that is beyond circle square circle square(K-2).  They then glued them to a piece of paper that matched their turtle & began to cascade the turtles downward.  The results are not shaking the art world at its core...but they are fun.  PLUS...it is so nice to have kid made art in the hall way the first day of school!!!

Hallway Display

At the end of the school year I have my students make me turtles with fun designs and patterns for the hallway outside my classroom. I change my color theme every year for five years(so that the students don't see the same thing twice..we're a K-4th school)...so I always know what colors I'm going with for the next year(primary, warms, cools, greens, and secondary). I started this 6 yrs ago...so I'm back to primary!! I thought the word CREATE! was fitting...and may use that idea again next year!!
