National Leave A Comment On A Blog Day

Never heard of it?  Well...I made it up this morning! Hahaha!!  Many bloggers have shared that people hardly ever leave comments anymore.  I'm not sure why?  Maybe Pinterest has made blogger/reader relationships more distant?  Maybe people are "too busy".  These places where you get great ideas....there is a person on the other side of the screen!!!   It really encourages bloggers to keep doing what they are doing when they hear from YOU! It doesn't have to be much...just a quick comment to share you like the project/idea....how you are using it in your room...or questions concerning the project.  That will fuel your favorite bloggers to keep sharing!!!!!  So today...go leave a comment on at least 2 of your favorite blogs!!! What are you waiting for...go...comment!

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO COMMENT ON MINE! I'M GOOD!! :) I WANT YOU TO GO MAKE ANOTHER BLOGGERS DAY...THAT WILL WARM MY HEART!!!

Lifted & Reposted from Art Project Girl

So Mrs. Art Project Girl thinks no one reads her blog?!?!?  What in the world?!?!  She rocks.  If you aren't reading it, you should be! Here is her HYSTERICAL post about why you may not be attending the AOE Conference.  I have the #2 & #1 reasons!!! hee hee  After you read this...head on over to her blog!! THANKS!

TOP 10 reasons NOT to Attend the AOE Conference

There are a few art teachers out there who will not be attending
The Art of Education Conference.

So here are the top 10 REASONS NOT TO ATTEND The Art of Education Conference.

10. You believe art teachers are like Beta Fish. . . get too many together and only one will survive.

9. You have no internet, which is obviously not true because you are
reading this right now.

8. You object to socializing online with people who have the same interests as you.
What is this thing called Facebook?

7. Folding laundry while getting really good ideas for your classroom would be multitasking
 and you never do that.

6. You are an artist. You don't want to do what everyone else is doing.

5. The idea of PD in your pajamas goes together like bananas and peanut butter. . . a
little bit too fruity and too nutty.

4. You are totally not curious to see what CASSIE STEPHENS will be wearing. . .

3. Because you have to "dust your spoon collection, nothing worse then a
 dusty spoon collection."

The number 2 & 1 are by the infamous MR. E from . . . Art With Mr. E

2. "You got a crayon lodged up your nose, and your surgery to remove it is on that day" -Mr. E

1. "You are an art teacher by day and spy on the weekends. . . you'll be 'away.'
You would tell us where, but then you'd have to kill us!!!" -Mr. E

1000 +

I started Art With Mr. E in the Fall of 2008.  I was in my first semester of my MAT in Fine Arts...and my technology prof. encouraged me to start a blog.  He told me..."You are an expert in your field...you need to share what you know!" ( I'm not so sure about the expert part...I think of myself as more of a fellow traveler that has been down this road awhile!!!  )  When I started my blog...I really had no idea if it would be noticed by anyone other than in my district.  I started having people "follow" my blog...that I didn't know?!?!  What's that all about?  A little over 2 yrs in...I had 200 of you wonderful people checkin' in to see what was happening in Mr. E's art room...and conversations were being had with art teachers & home school moms around the world?!?!!  I am a people person...and that carries over on my blog too.  I have enjoyed the comments, questions, and conversations we've had.  So many of you have become friends...though we've never met face to face!!! (hopefully this will change at NAEA..at least for some)  So now here I am...with a 1000+ followers (thank you Pinterest!).  I am humbled, encouraged, and fueled to keep on keeping on!!!!! Know my virtual door is always open to you all...and if you live close enough..my classroom door is open to anyone wanting to visit!!

Have I Hit The Ceiling?

YOU ALL ARE AWESOME...AND I AM GLAD YOU ARE HERE!!!

Have I "hit the ceiling" of the art ed blogging world?  I reached 800 in August....and it has been a slow climb to 900.   However, how many people are out there that would be interested in the art ed content of Art With Mr. E?  How do we reach those people?   I'm just gonna keep bloggin' along & singin' my song(a Pete the Cat reference if you know those books)......BECAUSE IT IS ALL GOOD!!!

art teachers go for ideas. As the editor of SchoolArts Magazine, the blog is my voice. I write about ideas, issues, and concerns of art teachers, along with recommendations for places to go for arts advocacy, participation in national and international opportunities, and any thing else of interest to art teachers. Over my career I have taught art to every level from kindergarten to college, so I care about them all.  - Nancy Walkup

ART EDUCATORS ARE GOOD PEOPLE

After "Flat Mr. E's" adventures at NAEA NYC...the generosity of Phyl for haulin' my picture around to take photos...all the teachers that posed with "me"....ya gotta realize art educators are just good people!!  THEN..out of no where...I received a package in the mail from NJ.  ??WHAT??  I wasn't expecting anything?!?!!?  Renee Collins from My Adventures in Positive Space sent me a package of goodies from conference!!!!!!  I've never met Renee in person...just one of my bloggie buddies here in cyber world.  I just think this testifies to the amazing community of people we have connected with in art ed blogging! I was so encouraged by Renee's act of kindness!!!!!

If you don't know her blog....take a moment and visit it today!!!!

A New Blogger to Check Out!!!!

I recieved a comment from Louise Isobel about how to promote her new blog. She didn't ask me to promote her blog....and  I don't just do a post on anyone...I want to promote something I feel is worth a look!  Louise's blog has an amazing niche that I feel needs representation in the art blog world!  She works with people who have special needs.  What I love is that she's finding lesson ideas from all of our blogs(as well as some of her own ideas), but then adapting them to her students!!!!!  This is something we can all continue to grow in I believe.  She doesn't have a ton of posts yet, but I know that this is going to be a great resource & inspiration.
