Water Color / Water Color Pencil Landscapes: 4th Grade

My forth graders created unreal color landscapes in watercolor last week.  This week we are using watercolor pencils to add details, and finish up any "unfinished" areas.  They have loved getting to use supplies that just weren't able to use while we were virtual!

Drawing An Animal & Habitat

Students have a lot of choice when it comes to selecting an animal & it's habitat!  This is a great time to bring in some of the science standards, and possibly writing standards.  They can write about their animal and where it lives.

ENCOURAGED!!!

Do you have a student(s) that encourages your heart on pretty much every project they attempt!  I have a 2nd grader that puts 100% in each & every project.  She works hard, takes risks, and always seeks ways to better herself!! I'm so impressed with this young lady.....she's awesome!!

On this project we did a close up landscape that could have a fairy/gnome theme if they wanted(or it could just be a nature picture).  The narrative she created within this work is just stunning!  I hope she sticks with me through 4th grade...because I really want to watch her artwork continue to grow!!!

The Three Billy Goats Gruff Inspired

This project is in progress.  I read the 4th graders The Three Billy Goats Gruff. The first week the reimagined the troll that lived under the bridge.  I have them red, yellow, blue, black, and white tempera, and they had to mix all of their colors.  I loved all the different ideas they came up with.  The following week we looked at a variety of bridges, and discussed what would be the most appropriate for a troll to live under, and what type of landscape/setting that bridge would be found in.
I think we have at least one more day to wrap them up!!!  I HOPE! ha ha

Pattern Landscapes: 4th Grade

I do not usually use my own work for an inspiration for my students...but for this lesson I was one of the arts(you can find some of my work under the tab MY ART The other was Robin Mead ...I love her work!!!  http://www.robinmeaddesigns.com   The students drew their pictures, traced with Sharpie(I use heavy black lines in my work), and used watercolor pencils.
I have several posts coming with their work....beautiful!!!

Landscape Paintings: 4th Grade

The start of a short unit on Landscapes....on day one we drew our landscapes focusing on creating a foreground, middle ground, and background.  On day two we moved to painting.  We really worked on using the proper brush, and keeping watercolor watery.  We may spend a short stint on "finishing" the landscapes using colored pencil.

House Collages: Kindergarten

There are projects I do at the end of the year to make sure my student "get it".  With kindergarten I always tend to have a collage project to check cutting & gluing skills.  We are going to be working on these for two class times....this is end of day one.  I'm THRILLED!  They are looking great...and the future is lookin' bright here at Tulip Grove.  I have an amazing "crop" of great artists coming up!!
