I was fortunate to see 3 of his water lily series at the St. Louis Art Museum in the mid 80's. Each painting in the series took up a wall in the same room - it was amazing! Another room was filled with his haystack paintings. It was a wonderful exhibit - I had to explain to my Dad why an artist would want to paint the same thing over and over! Thanks for bringing back a great memory for me...
Wow. I love the water lilies, but that is a LOT of money!
Not that I don't appreciate the value of great art, but, Think of how many homes in New Jersey and Long Island that amount of $$ could rebuild. Just sayin'...
