What Does 15yrs of Service Look Like?

A couple weeks ago they announced the "Years of Service" awards.  5, 10, 15....you get the picture.  Though I've worked for MNPS since 1997....I subbed a year, and they do not count that....so I'm at year 15. What do you get for 15 yrs of service?!?!  Yep...a mug.  I'm not going to knock the mug...I was actually looking forward to it.  HOWEVER...they were on back order.  When it came in today....they sent it in a brown paper sack...with sharpie marker scratched on the outside with our school route number.  Inside the mugs were wrapped in torn paper bags.  CLASSY! :) ha ha

  3. We got nothing. Ever. When I retired, my teachers union gave me the traditional retirement gift of an Adirondack chair (very appropriate since our school is in the Adirondacks) but, after 36 years teaching, and 27 in that district, I didn't even get a 'good luck' or 'goodbye' or 'thank you' from my administration, or a kudos for my final humdinger of an art show. It was a very bitter pill, very hurtful. Thank goodness for the union.
