NEW SHELVES!

I've been wanting new shelves in my room for a long time, but never put in a request because I heard so many other teachers say they had put in requests years ago...and it never happened.  My assistant principal put the request in about two weeks ago...last week they came out to take measurements..and this week they installed them!  Not only did they paint them green to match my room...they rounded the corners without me asking(some are in a place the kids could run into them)!! One set is going to be for my everyday supplies(markers, crayons, colored pencils..etc) & the other set are going to be for student work. LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM!! I know it is the end of the year(last day with kids today)...but it gives me a place to put my stuff up for the summer...and I can't wait to set up my room at the end of July(kids come back Aug. 1st!!!).

  2. That's awesome. And can I just say, I am relieved your room is green too because that is the color I just picked for mine to be painted. Whew.

  3. Great shelves!Enjoy them! You're back August 1st?! Please tell me you have air conditioning in your school! We don't get out for 2 more weeks here up north and our kids don't come back until the day after Labor Day! Enjoy your summer! :)

  4. Mrs. C.....we go back the last week of July...the kids come back Aug. 1st. AND YES...WE DO HAVE AIR(usually...some years it is a bit iffy. My room was 84 degrees for several days this past year.) We are going to a more "balanced" calender. We'll get one week at fall...two at Christmas...and two at spring. The following year we'll go to 2 fall as well. It will be an interesting change.

  5. I still have 4 weeks to go. School in NY always starts the day after Labor Day for teachers and usually the day after that for the kids. We are required to spend a minimum of 5 hours preparing our rooms etc during August. I always spent WAY WAY more than 5 hours. I guess I won't have to do that this August, but at the rate I'm going I'm still going to be cleaning and packing up.

I'm planning on BIG MESS next couple of weeks in my room - my 4th graders are doing Jackson Pollock. I attack this project in a big way about once every 4 years (that's how long it takes me to forget what a crazy mess it is!)

Nice shelves - but I admit I'm not a green person, unless it is a nature green outside (trees, leaves, etc) I'm pretty lucky in that I have a lot of awesome storage, most of it closed.
