More Clay Masks: 4th Grade

Lots of cats & dogs...but there are a few other interesting...ummm...creatures?  

Once again..these are painted with acrylic & the students were limited to 4 colors.

There is something about this one I love!  A bit messy in how it was painted..you can even tell from the paper I had them work on top of compared to the other students.  However, there is something very lively about this guy!!!  

The stripe one looks amazing in person..did not photograph as well.  The green one makes me laugh!! Reminds me of The Mask movie...but kind of Veggie Tales!  LOVE IT!

This dude looks like a Furby & Gizmo had a baby!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  

"UN" Snowman Behavior Paintings: 4th Grade

This 9 weeks we have Narrative Painting in our curriculum.  With all the snowman fun being had by the teachers, I thought I'd allow my 4th Graders to use a snowman as their main character.  The assignment was to place a snowman in an "un"snowman setting doing an "un"snowman thing!  Though some are not finished, I had a lot of fun & twisted ideas!!!!

The picture above has a dog munching on the snowman because he's hot!!! ha ha

The E's Anniversary!

7 yrs have passed since we said our "I DO's" (Dec 16, 2006)! It has gone by so quickly! Life has changed so dramatically! Ya know though...it seems exactly as it should be!!!!!! There was a time where my world seemed to revolve around teaching art...and that wasn't a bad thing!!  But now I have a mini-Van in the driveway...two beautiful kiddos running around...a sweet blessing on her way...a life full of ministry & service for God!!! I love being an art teacher...I'm so thankful that I get to do something I love every day!!!!  But life is so much bigger than my art room...and you know...that's good thing!!

Completed Clay Mask Project: 3rd

This nine weeks did not have a lot of projects listed in our curriculum.  Between circle weaving and clay masks....there just wasn't time for much else!!  I've not taken pictures the past couple days as students finished their projects...bummer!! There have been some fun ones!  I thought these two were special..and wanted to share them with you.

Caroline Joy is healthy....and seems to be perfect in every way! We are due the beginning of May...but will induce the end of April (we have large babies...Margaret was 8.7 two weeks early. Eli was 9.7 one & a half weeks early!).

Boy or Girl?  

My wife & I are having a hard time agreeing on a name!

Faculty/Staff Snowmen 2013!

My Snowman & Kids!

 This is the second time I've done the snowmen with the faculty and staff at my school...and they are AMAZING this year!!!  Oh my gosh, I've loved coming in every day and finding new snowmen in my room or mailbox!!!!  

HERE IS THE BONUS:  The last time we made these....we used up all of our snow days!!!!  So they are kind of our winter good luck charms.  Today we actually had early dismissal because a storm system was coming through. So maybe there is something to these snowmen!!!  

Maybe you should do them with your faculty!!  

(I made blank snowmen for the teachers to take & use as a base.)

Ribbon Weaving

In our curriculum we have Fabric Weaving for 2nd Grade.  I like the look of fabric weaving, but "WOW" ...it is labor intensive(even with the wonderful amazing rotary cutter!!!).  So this year, I'm using ribbon.  Expensive...yes.  HOWEVER...my brother-in-law works as a property manager & evicts people for a living.  Not a fun job, but someone has to do it.  At one of these places...someone left behind a HUGE tub of ribbon.   I wasn't sure what to use it for at first, but it has worked out amazingly well for this project!!!    

So if you are gifted with a large amount of ribbon...get those kiddos weaving!!!  

(I will probably go back to cutting fabric net year with a yarn warp...I just like the look better!)

The Last of the Ugly Dolls: 4th Grade

They've been so much fun...and I'm sad to see the project finished for the year. The kids have done a beautiful job on them, and I know they're looking forward to taking them home and showing their parents!!
