I love being an art teacher. I love art. I love seeing my students learn & grow. I love celebrating their successes. I love helping them overcome their struggles. I love the reactions of others when they see the amazing talent young artists possess. I love that every day is different. Now the job does have its "issues" at times. Though I'm not sure there is a job out there that doesn't have "issues". I'm just incredibly thankful to love what I do. I know so many that don't enjoy their work. Each day is resigned to fulfilling a task in order to receive financial compensation. I can't imagine spending so much of my life doing something in which I lacked passion.
Love transforms a task into something more.
"He answered, 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and 'Love your neighbor as yourself." Luke 10:27
For those who believe, life is not a series of hoops to jump through, rules to keep, obligatory services to fulfill, and mandatory attendance each time the doors of the church building are open. Some may see it that way, but that is not what God truly desires for us. He doesn't want us to punch in/punch out with no heart behind what we are doing. If this is your view of faith...you are missing something extremely important. LOVE! We do what we do because of love. A love for God & a love for our "neighbor". Sometimes we are good with the first part, but not so much the second. God has called us to love, and out of love comes a life lived for God. Tasks become joys. Service becomes praise. Gathering with others becomes our heart's desire in order to know God more & know his children. Our view of neighbor grows to all who God places in our path. Love transforms the must do's to the want to's!! Love transforms us into something more.
If you aren't experience this in your life....let that be your prayers over the holidays.
