Elementary Art Teacher PD: Kindergarten Focus

"WHAT?!?!?! PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR ELEMENTARY ART TEACHERS?!?!
I LOVE IT...SIGN ME UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Ha ha ... I love this picture of Ms. Edwards from yesterday's PD!!! She's one of my former student teachers, and I told her I was going to put this picture up!! (hee hee...evil laugh)

Yesterday started our elementary art professional development sessions!!  This year we have 6 days set aside for PD just for the elementary art teachers in our district(there are over 90 of us!!).  This first installment was focused on Kindergarten Art.  We had asked the teachers at our final PD day last year what they would be interested in ....and that was at the top of the list!!!!  Ms. Malone & I both love Kindergarten...and found that they are who we most frequently post about!!!
We had back to back projects the whole day...and would share ideas/tips/products/supply management/classroom management/books as we worked on the different projects.

EdBacker Campaign: Less Than $100 To Go!!!!!!!!!!

https://edbacker.com/c/ipadintheartroom

"I have been visiting Mr. E's website for wonderful ideas and links to other fabulous art teachers for 4 years... I thought it was time to say "Thank You!" Meg Hayes"  Rawson Elementary Art Teacher Hartford, Connecticut
THANK YOU MEG!  APPRECIATE YOU!

Friends...I'm less than $100 from completing my EdBacker campaign to get an iPad for my classroom!!!  I'm so excited.  I never thought I'd be able to get this piece of technology for my art room?!?!  I've heard that my smartboard is on its way?  I'm not holding my breath though. I am the last classroom in my school to have a smart board!!!  Even PE has one!!!!!!!!(they are amazing & deserve it though....but that is kind of unheard of..know what I mean?!?!).  I'm looking forward to learning & growing in my knowledge & use of the iPad in the art room.  I know many of you have asked how I'd use it...and I'm sure I'll document here the ups and downs(I love technology..but sometimes struggle with it).

If you want to help me cross the finish line....go to the link below & give whatever is on your heart to give.  I've be so encouraged & humbled by the 6 that have contributed so far.  Please know I do not take this for granted!!  It is a blessing...YOU are a blessing!

HOW ARE YOU DOING?

We're always posting projects, ideas, and the latest greatest products.... but I am wondering how you are doing?  Do you feel supported?  Are you feeling successful in your classroom?  How is life treating you?  Are things at home impacting how you are teaching right now?

Maybe you want to vent...maybe you just want to share...maybe you want some thoughts/advice?!?!
Someone cares...trust me!!!!  You are not alone!!!  Feel free to let me/us know!!   If you want to do it anonymous..that is fine!  If you want to drop me an e-mail...that is ok too.

I just don't want you to feel like you are out there all alone.

Kindergarten Fish Paintings

It is always interesting to see how the kindergarten students do with painting.  Some have had a great deal of exposure in the past...while others look at the brush as if it just fell from outer space?!?!
I've been super excited with my K's this year.  They really seem to be an artistic bunch!  Their paintings were really wonderful....here are just a few examples.

Rizzi City Building Collages: 1st Grade

My student teacher was with me a couple years ago during her practicum class field experience.  I was working on a James Rizzi unit at the time, and she remembered the student really enjoying it.  So she decided that she'd do a Rizzi lesson with the first graders for their cityscapes.  They've been turning out very fun & colorful!  I think Mr. Rizzi would be very proud to know his work is inspiring so many!!!

Random Silly Bulletin Board

I'm sure many of you have "extra" little jobs around the school because you are the art teacher.  One of mine is taking care of the bulletin board at the entrance of our school.  It is huge.  A small part is for PE, another small part is for Staff/Faculty of the Month....and then the rest of it is all mine!!!  It is really whatever I want it to be.  They just want it to be bright, fun, and fresh.  I realized this morning that I still had the WELCOME BACK board still up...and we are now 5 weeks into school!!!  So this is what my crazy mind came up with this go-round!!  A teacher asked me if that was a lost reference for our students(long pause as in my mind I am editing the comments that are about to come out).  If nothing else...it makes me laugh!!! ha ha

There is enough in gift cards & cash for me to purchase a new camera for
my classroom!!!!(very excited about that!!)

If you are in the Hermitage area...contact Dr. Ed for your chiropractic needs!!!!

Art Teacher's Job Is NEVER Done!!!

My kids LOVE to paint!!!!
They ask me all the time if we can paint!!!  We were outside playing..and I asked them if they'd like to paint outside at their picnic table.  Wow..you would have thought I offered them a million dollars?!?! :) ha ha

Eli is very serious!!  He loves it, but he is an artist that does not want to be disturbed!

Margaret is all about showing me her picture every 5 seconds...and will
always take a moment to have her picture taken!!
