Fall"ish" Abstract Expressionism: 2nd Grade
After looking at Abstract Expressionism on the MOMA website, I released the hounds...I mean...my students to draw some guiding lines/shapes on their paper before painting. I then provided fall colors + white for them to begin painting. This projected had a DAY 2...where I provided them 3 colors that they selected from the fall family + black. I feel this group of students struggled a bit more than years past...but I still got some great work out of them!

Shoe Transformed: 4th Grade
So the 4th graders started by drawing their shoe/boot as is. They were then asked to transform the shoe/boot into an animal/creature w/ an environment. They are in progress, but I thought I'd share what they have so far.

Fall Break Is Over...Now Back To Your Regularly Scheduled Blogging
So one of our last "events" on our fall break stay-cation was our annual trip to the pumpkin patch!
This is the first year Margaret really got into it (she's 3 1/2). She even let a goat eat out of her hands! It was such a joy to see her go to each of the areas with excitement of what she'd discover next! Eli (16 mon.) was not a fan of the animals after a recent "run-in" with his uncle's dog (dog came up behind him & barked). However...they had a toddler area...and there was a rock table with tractors, dump truck, bulldozers..etc. Eli could have stayed there ALL DAY!!! ha ha It was a wonderful break...but now time to get back into the swing of things!! Thank you all for humoring me...and allowing me to post family stuff!

A Blog to Follow..
Do you guys follow/read School Arts Room blog? WHY NOT?!?! Nancy Walkup is the editor of SchoolArts Magazine, and this is her blogging spot. If you would be so kind...go to her blog & follower it!!!! Tell her Mr. E sent you!! I only recommend things I believe would be beneficial & worthy of your time! (ps..fall break almost over..back to your regularly scheduled blogging soon & very soon!)
We want the schoolartsroom blog to be a place where
art teachers go for ideas. As the editor of SchoolArts Magazine, the blog is my voice. I write about ideas, issues, and concerns of art teachers, along with recommendations for places to go for arts advocacy, participation in national and international opportunities, and any thing else of interest to art teachers. Over my career I have taught art to every level from kindergarten to college, so I care about them all. - Nancy Walkup
