No..I'm not talking about the missed rapture! The end of school is near!!!! We have a week & a half to go. This week I'm handing back student art work and giving them a Finish Up Day. I allow them time to finish work & I do a portfolio review with each child. I had posted this lesson(see above pics) a couple weeks ago...but this was the 1st class that did the project. I had them work in colored pencil(but switched to marker for the other classes). These 4 stood out from the rest. I hope that the end of the year is going well for you all!!!
In my denial of school ending for my first graders and preschooler I realized that I will miss reading this blog during the summer too...as I expect that at least your content will change since you won't have any new student material. But looking forward to the other endeavors of the summer!!!
ReplyDeleteOne month more to go here in NY...
ReplyDeleteLike Phyl we have one more month to go. Our summer starts the 1st of July.
ReplyDeleteWe start again September 1st ...
I love the idea of a portfolio review!! How do you find the time for this?
ReplyDeleteErin, I just plan the last class of the nine weeks will be finish up day/portfolio review day. I get all the art work past back & students get busy working. Then I start calling one student up at a time. I don't do a long review..but ask them what their fav. is..what one do they feel was their worst and why. Then I talk to them about their work and what I see is good..and what needs some work(this year it seems like coloring..great drawings..coloring not so great).
ReplyDeleteLove this -- I plan to "borrow" it for my future teaching practice!
