Mondo Llama Brushes

I’m not one to totally slam a brand. There are so many factors in every situation.  There are bad batches, factors in transportation (things being too hot, too cold, or getting bounced around in shipping), and operator error.  I will say I’ve liked Mondo Llama’s crayons, markers, and colored pencils (not my favorite...but I’d for sure recommended them to my students for at home use!).

....HOWEVER....

I was given some gift cards to Target from someone in the community that likes to support the arts. I went on line and saw that Mondo Llama had brushes. I ordered about a class set worth. Within a week I regretted my decision. After a couple days of using them...their was a plastic like coating start bubbling up on the handle. A couple days later their were large areas of paint pealing off.   Now you might be thinking I left my brushes in water. No, I learned not to make that mistake over 20 years ago when I first started teaching.  There is just something up with these brushes. I terribly disappointed. The brush itself is nice, but the handles....not so much.

Have You Tried Mondo Llama?

Have you tried the Mondo Llama brand from Target?  I've tested out their colored pencils, crayons, and markers.  They are pretty much the same as the Up & Up brand that use to be at Target.  I'm not sure if it is just a repackaging of the old brand or something totally.  I will say that I tend to break the crayons a bit easier than Crayola (Crayola has been snapping easier the past few years too I've noticed!)

I decided to pick up some of the Mondo Llama Acrylic paint to see how they performed.  I actually really like them!  They are a bit thicker/creamier than Apple Barrel (that you can get at Wal-Mart).  The finish is a satin, and I really love it!  They won't replace your professional acrylics, but they are really nice.  Get a few bottles the next time you are at Target and try them out!

YES... I KNOW IT LOOKS LIKE IT SAYS ACRYLIC PAIN!! HA HA
SOME PAINT RAN DOWN THE SIDE!

Art Supply Review: Target's Up & Up vs Crayola

I will say that there there is for sure a difference with some of the supplies, but
different isn't always bad! Check out my review...and know before your buy.

Great Art "Stuff" at Target!

While Christmas shopping the other day at Target...I came across some GREAT arty stuff that would make wonderful gifts for the young (and young at heart) artists in your life.

GOOD JOB TARGET!!!
It is nice to know there are some quality art related items at "big box" stores!!

Find of the Century: Target

So a week or so ago my wife was shopping at Target, and she found several boxes of Construction Paper Crayons(Class Sets).  They were $25 at the time...great deal, but I told her don't get them.  This week she goes in and finds them marked down to $18 a box!!!! WHAT!!?!??!  I couldn't pass that up.  The question is...why would Target have class set boxes?  Maybe someone ordered from Target.com and then brought them back to an actual store location?  I don't know...but I'm glad I was able to snag such an amazing deal!!!  What is the best deal you've ever gotten in an odd location?

Campbell's Soup Band Wagon

I know several of my bloggie friends have already posted about this, but it is worth repeating.  GO TO TARGET AND GET YOUR CAMPBELL'S SOUP CANS!!!! I think I paid 75cents a can.  Totally worth it.  I have them on my book shelf in classroom with a Warhol book on top!
