The Art With Mr. E Workshop: FIELD TRIP

Slow posting...I KNOW! ha ha 

I'm trying to get back in the swing of things.

 Every year we go on a "field trip" during the three day workshop.  We've been to The Frist Art Museum, The Parthanon, Exploring the Public Art of Nashville, and taken a Mural Walk in Lebanon,TN (with a representative from the tourism department that helped get the mural projects going!). I wanted to do something different this year.  I decided to contact area artists to see if they might be willing to let us invade their space and ask questions of their life, process, inspiration, and business as a professional artist. WE WERE SO BLESSED!!!  A local ceramicist allowed us into her world....and we learned so much! 

We were making slump molds with plaster.

The shrinkage on these pieces was unreal! All from the same slump mold!

We love getting our hands dirty!!!

PD In Elizabethtown, KY

I had the privileged of leading professional development for a district up in the Elizabethtown, KY area.  It was a little over 2 hrs to get there...plus a time change....so I left Middle TN at 4:30 in the morning!  TOTALLY WORTH IT!!  This was an amazing K-12 group of educators.  I used the same content from my one day version of the Art With Mr. E Summer Workshop that I posted a few posts ago.  It is really interesting how the same projects have so many outcomes when you allow individuals to express themselves.  

  

Art With Mr.E One Day Workshop

Due to Covid-19, I had to change my annual Art With Mr. E Summer Workshop.  Usually it is a 3 day event, and we have teachers a couple different states & several counties here in Middle TN.  This year though, we only had one day and did not open it up to any new teachers.  Though our numbers were small...we had a really good time. We focused on African American Artists & Female Artists from Around the World as our inspiration.   I pray next year we are able to have things back to normal, but I'm very thankful for the teachers that participated this summer.
