Art Room Bulletin Boards & Displays 2011 : Part 2

This is a condensed version of the board I had up last year.  Under it I had an art criticism poster, but I'm going to switch it out...probably make an artists' birthday board.

Our students have been struggling with social studies(test scores were not good), I feel because of the focus on math & reading.  It doesn't leave a lot of time for social studies & science(not that the teachers want it that way, but they have to "focus" on what the district tells them to do)....so I'm going to do my part to bring in more of these missing pieces  from an art perspective.

This is my Word Wall.  The index cards have magnets on the back, and I can move the words over to my white board to go with the lessons I am teaching. It also works as a word bank when we are writing about art!

This is my HUGE bulletin board!

I do a class behavior chart.  At the end of the 9 weeks...whoever has the most blue sticks in their pocket gets a sign outside their door saying that they were the best of that grade level for the 9 weeks.

Not going to camp out on this much...you can go back & see the past years discussion! ha ha

HOW MANY TIMES MUST I TELL THEM TO WRITE THEIR NAME?!?!!?

This board is a half & half...I had a practicum student that did part of it in the spring.  It's not easy for me to let someone else do my bulletin boards...I'm a bit of a control freak!! HA HA(true!)

Another view!

  1. Awesome! I am so jealous. We have one bulletin board in the front of the room and we use it to pin up examples of what we are working on. how I'd love to have a big classroom with lots of bulletin boards!

  4. Don't worry, I'm not going to say anything about the no-no!

I LOVE the way your big board looks - the colors!!! it's so cheerful and attention grabbing and readable. I like your blue sticks and I might steal a version of it instead of my reward chart. Still 3 weeks till school starts and I just got back from Maine so this week I'll start putting it all together.

  7. Dude! You seriously put me to shame with all of those boards! I have a brand new room and I was lucky to get one bulletin board. I travel to 3 different buildings and am lucky if I get a board at each. I applaud your effort at making such colorful and detailed displays.

  10. mum2maggie....it is 4 sheets of metal I got at Home Depot and attached to the wall with Liquid Nails(you have to use duct tape to make sure it doesn't slide off the wall while it is drying.)

  19. I love your bulletin boards! Do you ever have student of the month?

    1. Laura, I do not. I see almost 600 students a week. Having a student of the month would be a challenging pick...and I'm afraid I would not keep up with it will if I did a student of the month in each grade level.

    1. Thanks Shirley! I use fabric for the background. I have a TON I've bought over the years. Walmart use to have a $1 a yard table...and I got a bunch of it back then. However, I add too it every once and awhile when I find colors/patterns I really like...just use a coupon then! ha ha The letters and boarders are cut from Scrapbook Cardstock paper. The color does fad, but not as quickly as regular construction paper...and not as poorly. I've had blue construction paper turn grey!

  22. I do a lesson strip for each project. The first line is for their name. The second line is for their Teacher's Code and/or Table #. Then I write a short description of our project. this is done in word and I use two columns for printing. It's super easy to cut them on the paper cutter.
    Name _____________________________
    Teacher's Code ________Table # ______
    Lesson Title: and brief description.
I pass these out first. That way I am more likely to actually get their name on their papers. Students write on them and glue them to the back of their papers while I am passing out the remaining supplies. This is a quick reminder for the students and how I communicate with teachers and parents.

  23. I was looking for ideas for portable bulletin boards for my classroom. Our school operates in a church and we have to keep things simple, which is difficult for me! At the end of the week, we pack everything school-related into our small closet. Anyway, if you have any creative ideas for displaying posters, etc. with easy put up and away features, I'm open to ideas! And btw, I think I know you from Campus Crusade for Christ, either project or new staff training. :)
