Some schools will give additional money to their art teachers.. but again that just really depends on the administration. I work in a very art-supported school and get an additional $500 for my program.. but I know other Title I teachers in my district that don't get anything.
So in total I get 86¢ per student.
Fundraising for more money is also extremely difficult at the school that I teach at. Every year we've had a big end of the year fundraiser that brings in only a couple hundred dollars at best (and this is at an elementary school with a population of 2,200 students).. but this year the company that has been running our fundraiser dropped us because we don't bring in enough money for them.
It's really interesting to me how much disparity there is between schools in the same district.. yet we are all expected to meet the same standards (and that just considers finances.. don't even get me started on the amount of time I get to see my kids for).Mrs. Nguyenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06235069352368266201noreply@blogger.com
