Guess What I'm Doing?!?

So my life is going to be pretty much jammed packed this summer!!!  We're writing the elementary art curriculum for the district, developing an inservice to introduce the new curriculum/standards/pacing guide to the elementary art teachers of Nashville(over 100 of us), I'm on the state text book adoption team for art, I'm teaching at an art camp....OH...AND WE'RE HAVING A BABY THE FIRST PART OF JULY!?!?!?!?!!? (not to mention that my daughter is full out terrible 2's!!!)  I usually go back to school mid/late July and start working on my room. I hand make all my bulletin boards & boarders, and it takes a good bit of time.  So I decided to start now while my 4th graders are away at camp(and I have an extra planning time).  It's odd doing it now while I'm still looking at this years room....but I know I'll appreciate it when I come back to set my room up!!

  1. Wow. Lots going on! Congrats on upcoming baby!! Funny to hear you talking about camp and end of school year etc. We are in school until June 24th. Still a ways to go. And my district has 2 art teachers, in contrast to your 100.. worlds apart, but we all have so much in common. Pretty cool, huh?

Meanwhile, your bulletin board parts look really fun...

  3. I love your new blog art design. Yours was the first art teacher blog I ever read/discovered. It inspired me to start my own blog (sharpiewoman.blogspot.com)which is still a work in progress as I am constantly learning about new wayus to add to it.I am impressed by your committment to your school district with all of the work you are participating in this summer. I, along with the other 8 art teachers in our district, are finalizing our new art curriculum this next week. It is an exhausting task and I'm so glad we're near the finish line! Good luck with the baby and all of your projects this summer.

  4. I do this every year! I put up all of my back to school Boards and cover them with paper. I also make all of my idea books for the next year these last few weeks of May. It make it so much easier to start putting my room together knowing that all of the hallway boards are ready to go! I like to buy my plan book in the spring as well and put my "1st day or art" plan in it, and number it so it is ready to go. I stick lesson plan ideas that I did't get to this year in that book so I find them when I get back in August! I also make a list for the end of the school year and you can bet these two things are on it! :)

I am having to put together a new art curriculium and could use all the help I can get. Do you have any sugestions on how to get started?
